Anushka’s roots lie in Odissi, a classical Indian dance form, which she has been training in since she was 6. In 2008, she joined Chowk Productions as a student under Raka Maitra, and later in 2022 as an associate artist. Her journey from classical to contemporary movement has been challenging and rewarding, and she continues to explore the nuances of this delicate traditional form.

She is currently a teaching artist at Chowk and loves how the process of teaching ends up being as much of a learning opportunity for her as it is for her students.

Fascinated by the space between structured form and free movement, Anushka strives to explore the intangible spirit of dance to convey depth and stories, and to find beauty within the strange.

She has performed regularly in productions by Chowk since 2019 in Singapore, India and the US and loves the adrenaline-fueled sense of freedom that performing on stage brings
